First up, I love the SERATO SL4. Definately the coolest software in the world. Not made by XM.

Gear I am using;
3 x Vestax PDX2000 turntables, (I love them – yes I have used 1200’s. 1210’s and the DENON’s but I just prefer them… ok?)
1 x Numark DXM06 mixer
1 x MacBook Pro
SEATO SL4 – using 3 channels for turntables and the last for recording the set.

Music;
This set borrows HEAVILY from the Hed Kandi: The Remix CD’s (available on iTunes… I think?)

The Accapellas (voice overs) are all from ‘Defected Accapellas’ – all except the ‘Tiny Dancer’ over Deadmau5 ‘Some Chords’ which I couldn’t find anywhere and because I don’t take anything too seriously I sang it myself and recorded it in GarageBand – hence ‘…and a microphone’. So go easy on me!
If your listening on headphones you’ll notice its only coming through the left channel – I accidentally recorded it in stereo with only the left channel live… but didn’t know it because (and my mates know this and will laugh) I am almost totally deaf in my right ear – I only realized playing it back now. Small fail, but it does the job.

For fellow SERATO geeks;
I have screen captured the set and filmed bits too so you can see what/how/why I am doing it. The uber-nerds will have picked up the fact the Numark DMX06 mixer I have (Thanks Tias!) is only 2 channels, but you got to work with what-cha-got! So I am running the third turntable on the microphone channel. This works ok, but I can’t queue through the headphones so often have to move tracks around in order to make it work and some mixing is a bit iffy at times. Okay, okay – mxing might be ‘iffy’ anyway. At least I’m not using CDJ’s…

Oh, and I whacked some ‘Kylie’ in the end just to keep it light. People take themselves so seriously. Especially DJ’s. At the end of the day… we’re just playing other peoples music.

Enjoy
